Menopause
The menopause occurs in the years around your last period. It’s a natural phase the life of a woman. Your body is changing from fertile to none-furtile. Often menopause and transition are used interchangeably though its not the same:
- The menopause is the last period. Usually when a woman is 51 years old.
- The transisition are the years around the menopause.
When transition occurs, some issues can develop:
- Down and iritated
- Night sweats
- Hot flashes
- Less or no sleep
There are no real medicines for menopausal symptoms. Regularly, hormone preparations are prescribed. A homeopathic treatment is a good alternative. A homeopathic remedy can quickly reduce menopausal symptoms. Contact us if you are suffering from menopausal symptoms.
Article from the magazine Koninklijke Vereniging Homeopathie Nederland:
Case study: Homeopathy during menopause
Women’s well-being measured by giving a grade to the day or the night (between 0-10, with 10 indicating the worst) .
Results:
A total of 438 woman were treated. The avarage duration of these treatments was 98 days. Most common prescribed homeopathic remedies were Lachesis mutus, Belladonna,
Sepia officinalis, Sulphur en Sanguinaria canadensis.
A significant reduction in hot flashes was observed during the day and at night. In addition, a significant decrease in the daily discomfort caused by hot flashes was measured. The severity of hot flashes during the day decreased by an average of 3.6 points. The severity of hot flashes at night decreased by an average of 3.8 points. Ninety percent of women reported a disappearance or reduction of their symptoms. These changes typically occurred within 15 days of starting homeopathic treatment.
Evolution of the patients’ clinical condition
| Evolution of clinical condition | Patients | % |
| Disappearance | 83 | 19.39 |
| Improvement | 301 | 70.33 |
| No change | 34 | 7.94 |
| Deterioration | 10 | 2.34 |
| Total | 428 | 100.00 |
Conclusion:
Researchers conclude that homeopathy is effective in treating hot flashes in menopausal women.
The strength of this study is that it examines the situation as we see it in daily practice with homeopathic doctors. The weakness of the study is that there is no comparison with a control group in this study. This means that you cannot be sure whether the recovery is due to homeopathy or, for example, a placebo effect, the natural course of the disease, or other factors.
Case-study Homeopathy during menopause
Several studies have investigated homeopathy as a treatment option for menopausal symptoms.
In a randomized double-blind study by Jacobs (This is a study where participants are specifically selected for the study and then randomly assigned to either the treatment or placebo group. Additionally, neither the participants nor the researchers know whether someone is receiving a placebo or the actual treatment) the effectiveness of homeopathy was investigated over a period of more than 1 year in 83 women who had undergone breast cancer.
Patients received either individualized homeopathic treatment, a complex homeopathic remedy, or a placebo. (A complex homeopathic remedy contains multiple homeopathic remedies and is given as a standard treatment for a condition without individual consideration, while a classical homeopathic remedy is tailored to the individual.) This study showed no difference between the three patient groups in terms of the severity and frequency of hot flashes, although there was a positive trend in the “individualized homeopathic treatment” group during the first 3 months of the study.
However, there was a significant improvement in quality of life in the 2 groups of patients who received homeopathic treatment, compared to the group that received the placebo (Jacobs, Herman, Heron, Olsen, & Vaughters, 2005 [3]). A French study involving 108 women found beneficial effects of a complex homeopathic remedy (a homeopathic remedy made from multiple homeopathic remedies combined) in reducing hot flashes during menopause.
